On February 11th at The Upper Long Lake -Lake Board decided that aeration is not within the scope of the 1984 petition so another petition would need to be circulated. The petition has been drafted and is ready for circulation on May 22, 2015. Your lake management committee representatives will be circulating it. Please familiarize your self with all the aeration information on the web site. The petitioners should be able to explain the petition and the anticipated consequences of using aeration like, reduced harvesting, reduced or elimination of chemicals, reduced muck, improved water clarity, reduced algae blooms and improved fishery. All of these benefits and more are discussed in the information on our web site.
The official petition undertaking a new project for Lake improvements (installing aeration devices) is now being circulated to authorize the Lake Board to undertake the ew project and to create a special assessment district for this project you can find a copy of the petition here.
Your lake committee spoke to the lake committee members of six other Michigan lakes who are using the aeration restoration methodology. See their answers to some of the questions about aeration that our lake committee thought would be important to our residents here.
Earlier this year a survey the lake restoration options was sent to the residents of our lake you can see the results here.
